Rather than using pile fabric on the underside as seen in the modern way, a technique not suited to mass production is used; more yarn is used in certain areas for strength and comfort. The 'COMFORT TOP' footwear, which can be seen in vintage catalogues, features no constraint and yet a firm hold.
